YA-NE-SEN a Go Go

Finally moving onto animations done by women... "YA-NE-SEN a Go Go" is rather simplistic in its set up as compared to previous works, which is fine and honestly a nice change of page! I really did like the retro feel to this one, and it just got to show how appealing rotoscoping can still be if done right. You just can't help but smile at the jubilance that is practically emitting from most of Yamazaki's works, they are all just bursting with joy and energy that you don't really see often in other works. Honestly the vintage look and song choice for this animation just reminds me of those really old karaoke music videos my mother sings to (Even to this day), and those are really fond memories...

It's really interesting that the animator and director decided to use herself as the main subject for nearly all of her works, and that's just awesome and and pretty darn admirable and inspiring, seeing how she is able to go all out when acting her reference out, whether she is in a private or public setting.

Interestingly enough, Shishi Yamazaki worked alongside "Transfer's" Fantasista Utamaro on a music video for Pharrell Williams' "It Girl", try guessing which parts of the video they were in charge of directing of!
